Tupelo Honey is an ocean version 2022 Dufour 530 described by Cruising World as “a witch to sail.” Sail Magazine, Sailing Today, Blue Water Sailing and topRik.com all review the 530 favorably. TopRik.com has links to 6 YouTube tours. At 53′ overall and 16′ of beam, Tupelo Honey has ample space above and below deck when sailing and at anchor. There is a large sun bed between the helms and another on deck. Under the helm sunbed cushion are a grill and sink accessible from the large swim platform. Tupelo Honey has three double cabins, two bunk beds in the Pullman berth, a spacious galley and two heads. She sails very well, often close hauled at 33° apparent wind on the blue water passage from Annapolis to BVI. In the interest of full disclosure, drifting sand from 2017’s Hurrican Irma makes Anegada off limits for Tupelo Honey’s 6′ 8″ draft.
Down below, in the forward cabin are a large bed, a head with hand shower, sink and mirror to starboard and a spacious stand-up shower and vanity to port. The aft cabins have queen size berths. The furnished split galley is complete with an over/under standing fridge/freezer, a separate countertop accessible cooling/freezer chest, range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender. Wine storage abounds including a built-in rack under the cabin sole. Tupelo Honey has air conditioning, a water maker and a generator to power them. USB-A charging ports are througout the boat including the cockpit. USB-C ports are at the navigation desk and in the saloon.
